MEET KATHRYN
Born and raised in Los Angeles County's 5th District, Kathryn Barger has dedicated her life's work to fighting to create stronger, safer and healthier communities across our region.
As our voice on the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors, Kathryn is the representative for 22 cities as well as and 70 unincorporated communities in the San Gabriel, San Fernando, Crescenta, Antelope and Santa Clarita Valleys.
Elected to serve us in 2016, Kathryn Barger is an advocate for taxpayers who has fought to hold county government accountable and crack down on corruption. Kathryn has worked to combat homelessness by ensuring county resources are spent as effectively as possible. She’s fought to increase resources for law enforcement, firefighters and other emergency responders to keep us safe. And she’s worked to expand opportunities for local small businesses while holding the line on tax increases for families. She has also worked to address homelessness by prioritizing housing that is affordable and expand mental health services, including helping to lead the implementation of L.A. County's new Care Court Initiative which will help get those with severe mental health issues into supervised treatment and care.
Kathryn serves our community on a range of regional boards, including for Metrolink, the L.A. County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA), the North County Transportation Coalition, the High Desert Corridor Joint Powers Authority, the Southern California Association of Governments, the Sanitation Districts of Los Angeles County, South Coast Air Quality Management District, among others.
